Krafton announced that it plans to exhibit the ‘Dark & Darker Mobile’ game using the ‘Dark & Darker’ IP at ‘G-Star 2023’.
This game was developed by Krafton’s Bluehole Studio, which previously developed an extraction role-playing game called ‘Project AB’. Krafton announced that it signed a global licensing agreement with Iron Mace for ‘Dark & Darker’ last year and implemented the IP into ‘Project AB’. Regarding this, Krafton explained that it only used the original name and developed the rest independently, and that it achieved the fun of the original by fusing battle royale, dungeon crawler, and RPG elements.
Nexon has applied for a temporary injunction to prevent ‘Dark & Darker’ from being serviced in Korea until the main copyright lawsuit is concluded. In response to this, Krafton emphasized that it only used the name Dark & Darker, and the Suwon District Court has not yet reached a conclusion. Krafton is adopting a strategy of preempting IPs that are expected to be box office hits, and announced that it will respect fans’ evaluations and judicial decisions regarding the original work.
